News Coverage and Related Campaign Videos:

Coastal First Nations Send a Powerful Message to Enbridge - I pitched reporters and filled the room for this news conference with local, provincial and national media. I also helped write and edit a supporting op-ed for the respective First Nations leaders.

Tar Sands USA Today Ad – Media relations strategy resulting in coverage on all of Canada’s national television networks and in most national newspapers.

Endangered Species “Greatest Hits” – Remember those terrible “Greatest Hits” infomercials? Well…enjoy.

Last Place On Earth -  I produced the NGO coalition news release and coordinated on site media strategy for three spokespeople. Key message: BC needs an endangered species law.

Cutting Down Caribou – A scrappy little video I cut over a weekend on Windows Movie Maker with a $20 microphone. It stirred up a bunch of trouble and media coverage, and has been viewed almost 13,000 times. It enjoyed early success among niche audiences including forestry professionals, research scientists and government decision-makers.

Mountain Caribou Audit – A story I pitched that revealed serious weaknesses in the provincial government’s mountain caribou recovery efforts. Bottom line: We got the minister on record on the biggest newscast in the province, committing to the original protections and time lines that had been promised.

Ducking Responsibility in Ontario’s Boreal Forest – A scrappy little take-off on the Nintendo classic DuckHunt. The dog gives a slide show presentation on the importance of protecting Ontario’s Boreal Forest. Guess what, the McGuinty government just announced protection of an area half the size of California – the largest conservation commitment in Canadian history – and it was all because of this little video! (Okay, that’s a gross exaggeration, but I’d like to think at least one of the Premier’s staff watched it).

Mountain Caribou Public Service Announcement – A 30 second public service announcement that ran in Festival Cinema theatres across Vancouver during the summer of 2007. Part of a much larger campaign that secured a major caribou recovery commitment from the BC government, including large-scale forest protection.
